Bethlehem – Birthplace of the Savior

Bethlehem means House of _____________________!

And Jesus said to them, “I Am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”                      -John 6:35

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).                                                                         -Gen. 35:19 (see also Gen. 48:7)

Genesis 38:12-30

Judah and Tamar became the parents of the twins Perez and Zerah. We will see the significance of that in a moment. In Genesis 49:8-12 Judah was given the great prophecy that the Messiah would come from his _________________________.

Ruth 4:1-22

The blessing of Ruth and Boaz in Ruth 4 shows how God’s grace can bring beauty even in the aftermath of sinful _____________________ like the ones seen in Genesis 38 and Ruth 1. Ruth ends with the genealogy of David traced through Boaz back to Perez!   

Now this is the genealogy of Perez: Perez begot Hezron; Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminadab; Amminadab begot Nahson, and Nahshon begot Salmon; Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed; Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.                     -Ruth 4:18-22

1 Samuel 16:1-13

David of Bethlehem went on to be Israel’s greatest King, the King all others were ___________ by! In 2 Samuel 7 David was promised that the Messiah would come through his descendants.

Isaiah 9:6-7     Micah 5:2-4

The Prophet Micah lets us know that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, but also that He had ______________________ existed before that coming birth!

But when the fulness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.              -Galatians 4-4-5

The law required perfect righteousness, but grace __________________ perfect righteousness through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone!
