Hope and Holiness

Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight. At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more. When he bares His teeth, winter meets its death. And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.    –C.S. Lewis

In verses 1-12 we saw that Christ is for the believer – In verses 13-17 we see that the believer is called to be ________ Christ in all things!

Because of what Christ has done for me…

I want to be __________________ Christ                           V. 13

Perspectives on holiness:

The root meaning of the word translated as holy is “_____________.” To be holy is to be set apart, devoted to God’s purposes for our lives.

Do you want God’s best for your life?

Do you want to be like Jesus?

I want to ____________________ Christ                            V. 17

There are two coming judgments…

The Great White Throne Judgment is for ____________________

-Revelation 20:11-15              -John 3:36                   -Exodus 32:33-34

Believers are spared at this judgment based on what Jesus has done for them. Having rejected Christ, unbelievers are evaluated and given degrees of punishment based on their deeds.

The Judgment Seat of Christ is for ________________________

We make it our aim to be pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or bad. Knowing, then, the fear of the Lord, we persuade people. We are completely open before God.                         -2 Corinthians 5:9-11

Here lies George Whitefield; What sort of man he was the great day will discover

Believers are evaluated and rewarded at this judgment based on what they have done for Jesus. Some will receive greater rewards and responsibilities in the future kingdom than others.
